Resisting temptation

Remember this outfit that I wish I was wearing? Well, the shoes and bag both went on sale at Shopbop. BUT I resisted because my US trip is just around the corner (only 2 pays away!). Surely I could find them cheaper in the US anyway? Ahh, somehow it's easier to justify purchases when you're on holiday (it's a souvenier). Any recs for must see places in NY, LA or San Fran? Especially places to shop or eat?

Meanwhile, I am trying to make do with my current winter wardrobe. Here's some weekend outfits:

Pretty new things

It's getting a bit cold now in the evenings for me to play around with my new purchases (so sorry, no outfit posts). The QLD weather is still quite lovely when the sun is out though, so they should hopefully still get some Autumn/ Winter outings and work well into Spring too.

My $100 per week on clothes is going... ok... I think it almost evens out due to weeks when I haven't bought anything. BUT I'm finding it very tempting to shop at the moment - change of season and feeling like I have nothing to wear for winter + the sales starting... Does anyone else have this problem?

I got this Sretsis dress too (pre-order) but unfortunately it's too long for me. It's such a shame because the colour is gorgeous and it's so floaty and lovely... up on ebay it goes :(

Clueless

Like most teenage girls of the 90s, one of my early fashion influences was the movie Clueless. I'm sure many of you can identify; first came Stacey and Claudia... then Cher. Seeing as all things 90s seem to have made a comeback (desert boots, maxi skirts, floral dresses, leggings, oversize knit sweaters), I've been wanting to explore a modernised Cher-style. Layered cropped knits over button-up shirts will be perfect for Autumn. I think I'll skip the school-girl skirts though...

I have had a growing liking for Karla Spetic over her past two collections, and particularly the focus on Australian landscapes in her prints. I love the skirts in her recent 'Borderlands' collection, featuring plain leather back, and printed silk front - stunning! In comparison, I found the prints her new collection, shown at RAFW, rather disappointing. Oh well, best to grab a couple of pieces now and save my money next season.

Lover "The White Serpent"

So Lover finally showed at RAFW again, this time in celebration of their 10 year anniversary. Well congratulations, Lover: on the anniversary and a fantastic collection. Lover planned to give tribute to their 10 years of work, whilst taking the label in a fresh direction, which personally, I believe they achieved. The collection interprets older fabrics or styles in a way that seems, fittingly, more mature. I look back on some of Lover's older collections and think that some of the pieces seem too young for me, but many pieces from this collection are just right. Of course, there are also many pieces that are just not to my taste (red is not my most flattering colour).

Here are my top picks:

Very similar to the Modernist dress, which I already own in khaki, but it is oh-so-wearable, and I do like this new length

Up in the Clouds

After seeing the lookbook for Sretsis A/W 2011 collection, "Up in the Clouds", I'm super excited for the main print. It kind of reminds me of the galaxy print in Christopher Kane's 2010/2011 Resort collection, favoured by celebrities:

Alexa Chung (nuff said)

As usual, Sretsis puts a cutesy spin on things - this time it's a girl's fantasy land complete with clouds, unicorns and an adorable blowing wind face - if you grew up on Rainbow Brite and Care Bears, you will love this. The blue based colour palette (a soft blue paired with white, or black/navy/ blue) and ladylike cuts ensure keep the overall result sophisticated rather than overly cute. My pick is the shoulder-cut-out Wind Whistler dress (top row, right). There's still a bit of a wait for this collection, which thankfully means time to save!

My kind of Easter

Easter is all about new life (although the chocolate is good too) and I
associate this with delicate lace (dresses and blouse by Lover),
sweet scented candles and garden party embellishments
